A Word from the Makers
Your Tie is made from a Liberty of London fabric which we chose for its classic floral print. The delicate combination of warm orange, rich green & cool blue will lend itself to both tailored and casual looks.

How is your Belfast Tie crafted?
We have taken time and care to make your tie in the traditional way, by hand. Your tie begins life as a carefully chosen piece of fabric, which is rolled out and checked for flaws. The tie is cut by hand on the bias (at a 45-degree angle to the threads) which gives the fabric some stretch; this stretch allows your tie to hang better and recover its shape more quickly.
At this stage we sew in the tipping (the lining on the back of the blade & tail). We believe that the back of a handmade tie should be as impressive as the front, so we use coordinating Liberty of London Tana Lawn Cotton, Oxford Cotton or Irish Linen to make your tie even more unique.
Next, your tie is carefully hand folded around an interlining (a thicker tie shaped piece of fabric). Once folded, a classic hidden slipstitch is handsewn the entire length of the tie to keep the neat folds in place. A slip knot is left inside the fold at the tail of your tie to allow the fabric to stretch and return to its original shape after wear.
Finally, a keeper loop and Belfast Bow Company label are attached to the back.
This process takes us up to 2 hours and is further proof as to why a carefully handmade Belfast Tie is an item to be looked after and treasured for years to come.
We can make ties in most of our fabrics, however there are some heavier fabrics that are unsuitable to make ties from. If you have a specific fabric in mind, please contact us to discuss your options.
